Participants will learn the fundamentals of courtroom testimony, including how to review and organize investigative reports, prepare for direct and cross-examination, communicate effectively with attorneys, answer questions accurately, and maintain professionalism under pressure. The course also addresses common challenges, appropriate investigator conduct, documentation, evidence presentation, and the importance of remaining objective and truthful throughout the testimony process.
2 CE HOURS
Participants will learn about common types of legal documents, service requirements, identifying and locating individuals, planning and conducting service attempts, documenting each attempt, completing affidavits or proofs of service, and maintaining accurate case records. The course also covers professional conduct, personal safety, confidentiality, and the importance of following jurisdiction-specific rules governing service of process.
2 CE HOURS
Students will learn the fundamentals of surveillance planning, selecting appropriate observation locations, maintaining discreet positioning, documenting activities, using investigative equipment responsibly, and preparing clear and accurate surveillance reports. The course also introduces vehicle and foot surveillance concepts, team coordination, situational awareness, and techniques for recognizing potential indicators that an investigator may have been detected.

Participants will learn how to define the scope of an assignment, develop an investigative plan, identify and evaluate relevant sources, conduct public-record research, verify information, organize findings, and distinguish reliable information from unverified or misleading data. The course also addresses investigative documentation, report writing, confidentiality, privacy considerations, and the importance of complying with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Students will examine topics such as honesty and integrity, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, professional boundaries, client relationships, accurate reporting, responsible handling of information, and respect for individual privacy. The course also explores the importance of remaining objective, avoiding misrepresentation, recognizing potential ethical conflicts, and making sound professional decisions when faced with challenging situations.
